Aloha Friday – Leaving Your Kids

Welcome to Aloha Friday! After a week of craziness, it’s nice to have a little downtime like Aloha Friday. On Aloha Friday, each blogger asks a simple question. We link up at An Island Life, visit everyone who links up and answer their simple questions. A super fun way to meet some wonderful bloggers. I have made so many friends just by visiting them every Friday.

My Question for you…

Do you or did you leave your kids often for overnight getaways?

I have been looking forward to this weekend since February!  My sister and I are headed up to Vancouver B.C. to see Madonna in concert.  I will be leaving on Friday and coming home Sunday.  Scott will be with the kids but my daughter is stressing because I will be gone.  I don’t leave often so she always gets a little worked up.   What about you?  How do your kids handle you being gone?

Have a great weekend!

  1. No. Twice in 11 years… happy Friday!

  2. I have left them a few times. It was very hard when they were younger. But, now that they are teens/tween it’s not too bad. The worst part is worrying about coming home to a messy house and overflowing laundry room, LOL! Although, I have to admit my husband and daughter did all of the laundry while I was gone to LA last week.

  3. Only once ever! Isn’t that wild?!!!

  4. There are not very many times for overnight but we often go to the MIL’s and go out with friends and leave Alex there and return late… but the little thing usually comes and wakes me up and snuggles me early ;)

  5. I’ve never left them overnight to anywhere, so I don’t know how they’d react.
I leave them at church for about an hour but they are okay…same for school.

But if I could leave for just a bit, I’d take the chance. It’s good for kids to miss mommy! See everything that you do around the home etc.

    Enjoy your trip!
    Tell her you’ll call.

  6. We don’t do it often, but when we do the kids stay with family. The teens love it, but the little ones ring my cell day and night. Have fun at the concert!

  7. At least once a year we went away for the weekend on our anniversary. The kids stayed with family or very close friends. Our grandkids stay with us often when the kids go away. Kudos to the moms that go away often on blogging trips. I don’t think I would not have been able to do it. ;)

  8. We actually haven’t had a chance to yet – we don’t have any childcare. But once we move back to Seattle, we’ll be able to take my parents up on their offer to take the kids off our hands for a weekend away. :)
