Weekend Wrap Up – Vancouver BC, Sisters, Shopping and Madonna!

What an incredibly fun and exhausting weekend!  Last February (for my birthday), my sister bought Madonna tickets.   The concert finally arrived this weekend and we were as excited as school girls!

We decided to make a weekend of it, so on Friday I drove to the Seattle area to pick up my sister and her good friend.   We were off within minutes of loading the luggage, looking forward to a weekend of fun.  Lots of laughs and stories during our 4-1/2 hour drive to Vancouver BC.   It was close to dinner when we arrived, so we checked in to our hotel and went to find food.  We were STARVING!!

Crossing the US/Canada Border

I found this yummy treat in our room…Oh my gosh…it was a chocolate caramel lava cake.   I don’t think I have tasted a dessert quite this delicious in years!

I slept in Saturday while my sister went for a 2 hour run.  She was shocked to find me still in bed when she got back.  I think I am lacking in the R & R area of my life right now.    I was needing a jump start that morning so a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks did the trick!  We then went on a power shopping trip.   All three of us were looking to embellish our outfits for the night or add some new pieces to them.   We found some great new additions to our wardrobe.

After dinner we headed back to our rooms to get ready for the concert.  Each of us helping each other with the make up application so we were beautiful!  We were close enough to walk to the concert which was a bonus.  Madonna normally hits the stage close to 10:30 p.m. and she was prompt!   Her music was a good mix of the new and the old and by 12:30 a.m. the concert was over.  We then headed back to our room for some room service and more laughs.

My sister loves running in Vancouver and went on a long run before we left.  It sure felt like a long drive home.  Maybe  because I hadn’t had any contact with Scott or the kids.  We were in the international roaming area and so I just turned my phone off for the weekend.  I arrived home around 7:15 p.m. and caught up with the family.  It sounds like they had a great weekend too with friends, cupcakes, football and grandparents!

I am pretty tired right now and will be crashing here shortly.   There were a few things I learned on this trip from my companions.

  • Boiled Eggs can be bought for $1.50/2
  • Pringles chips are the comfort food in hotels all over the world
  • Room Service trays can be very dangerous
  • A girl loves her boots

I will be sure to explain those little facts within the next day or so.  I hope you all have a great week!   Happy Monday!
