Easter Egg Dyeing With PAAS and Heinz Vinegar

In a little over a week, there will be lots of egg dyeing going on.  I realized that our kids would be gone the night before Easter so we had our egg dyeing tonight.

The kids were thrilled when they saw the stock pot full of boiled eggs, the PAAS Egg Dyeing Kit and Heinz White Vinegar.  Our kids love boiled eggs!  I am pretty sure Emily would eat an egg-salad sandwich everyday of the week if she could.  Brad on the other hand, loves to just eat the boiled egg.  Now that the kids are 11 and 9 years old, I decided to let them get a little more involved.  They helped adding the dye tablets and water to each cup and then got busy decorating.

As far back as I can remember I have always decorated Easter eggs.  Even during my single days, I still boiled some eggs and decorated them.  There is just something cheery about colorful eggs.    Now with kids, we “have” to decorate.  It just wouldn’t be the same not doing it.

Here are some fun pictures of the kids tonight, decorating, having fun and being silly.  Even Scott and I got into the fun.  (Notice my “mom” egg?)

PAAS and Heinz have created an Egg Decorator app.   Your kids will love this and they can get so creative.  The best part is for every egg “dyed” on the app, Heinz & PAAS will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation up to $25,000.   Our family will be busy using the Egg Decorator app all next week while they kids are on Spring Break…and to know some great kids will benefit from all our fun.  A win win!

Here are some great tips when you get ready to dye your eggs.

  • To help make colors vivid and bright, add three tablespoons of Heinz® Distilled White Vinegar to the egg wash before dyeing the eggs.

  • Also, to help keep hard-cooked eggs from cracking, add two tablespoons of Heinz Distilled White Vinegar to the water before placing the eggs in the pot.

For the perfect hard boiled egg:

  1. Place eggs in saucepan large enough to hold them in single layer.
  2. Add cold water to cover eggs by 1 inch.
  3. Heat over high heat just to boiling.
  4. Remove  from burner.
  5. Cover pan.
  6. Let eggs stand in hot water about 15 minutes for large eggs (12 minutes for medium eggs; 18 minutes for extra large).
  7. Drain immediately and serve warm or, cool completely under cold running water or in bowl of ice water, then refrigerate.

Have fun decorating your eggs this year!

Gemmy Airblown Inflatable Easter Bunny Giveaway – CLOSED

I love decorating for all the holidays.  I use to go all out but for some reason, now only my favorite decorations make it out of the boxes.

A few years ago we went to a garage sale and bought some sort of Christmas decoration.  They threw in a 6 foot inflatable polar bear (they kids named Poley).  I love how easy he is to set up but makes a great decoration statement.  When I was asked if I would like to review the Inflatable Easter Bunny by Gemmy, I thought “how fun!”    So now we have “Bob” the Easter Bunny to add to our decorations!

He is festively dressed in a vest with a colorful bow tie and he lights up.  Look how cute he is!

Best of all, he is weather-resistant and inflates in seconds.  What  a fun way to greet your neighbors, family and friends for Easter.  He is available exclusively at all Walmart stores and Walmart.com (Retail price — $45.97).

I have one to give away to one of my readers.  I will make it a quick and easy giveaway so we can get it closed before Easter.  (I cannot guarantee Easter delivery…sorry, I am at the mercy of the shippers.)

Share with me your all time favorite holiday decoration and why.  (Mandatory Entry) **Don’t forget to leave me your email address so I can contact you if you are the winner!**

The giveaway will close on March 30th at 9:00 p.m. PST. Winner will be chosen using *And The Winner Is plugin*. Open to US only.

Disclosure: I received Gemmy’s Inflatable Easter Bunny for review purposes only. I was not compensated to write a positive or favorable review. This is my personal opinion of the product.
