Weekend Wrap Up – I’m Baaaaack!

Photobucket
There’s no place like home…except when you are on vacation!  We just got back from a wonderful vacation in Lake Chelan.   When you go to Eastern Washington you are bound to see sun.   It is more desert like than Western Washington, where it is lush and green.

We left early on the 20th and headed on our 4 hour drive.  The past few years we have stopped half way through the trip for lunch and outlet shopping.  It helps break up the trip for all of us.   We drove through a large thunder and lightening storm on the East side of the mountains.   By the time we arrived in Lake Chelan the storm had blown through so we had dinner, picked up a few groceries and headed to the condo.  As soon as we checked in, the kids were ready to swim…so off to the beach and pool.

Most days were spent at the pool or lake.   On Wednesday we headed to Slidewaters.  Emily, Brad and I went on every water slide except for one.   It was a long, pitch black slide…all 3 of us said “no thank you!”  Scott isn’t a huge fan of the slides so he sat back and just relaxed.

We arrived back home early afternoon on Friday.  The kids were excited to be home and to see their friends.  Cori (our dog) was very excited to see all of our faces.

It’s always nice to be home.  I love coming home to a clean house which I always go overboard doing before we leave.  Our house sitter, Ashley is awesome and I always want her to feel welcome and not find dust bunnies here and there.

Saturday, we painted the shed and finished it up on Sunday.  It looks so good.  I will post pictures of the progress over the last month later this week.

I have a couple of giveaways going live this week so be sure to stop by and check them out.  Don’t forget to check out the Sargento America’s Ultimate Cheeseburger Giveaway!

Weekend Wrap Up – This WAS A Busy One…Again!

Photobucket
So many of you tell me how busy our weekends seem.  Your right, we are busy, but I will admit, we always take time to do a little relaxing.  It just might not be until 7 p.m.

This weekend has been busy from beginning to end.  I get tired just thinking about everything we did.

Friday was cleaning day again.  I had thought about going out to run some errands (like “needed” groceries) but decided to stay home do a little organizing.  Once everyone was home from school and work we went out for a quick dinner.  The middle school was having a Spring Fling so we went over and let the kids enjoy the outdoor activities for the night.  Emily ended up having an impromptu sleepover with her BF.

Brad made a fort in his room on Saturday

The neighborhood behind us always has a yearly garage sale we like to walk to.  Everyone was up early so we could get a good start.  We ended up with a pair of junior golf clubs for Brad (we have been looking for a set for awhile).  The girls came away with some fun jewelry and Scott found some ladder thingy.   Once we were back, Scott started working on the shed while Emily and I went and volunteered at our library.  They were having a children’s event and we had been asked to help.   We ran to the grocery store on the way home to get those needed groceries and Father’s Day treats.

Emily and Brad were very excited for Father’s Day.  We had purchased “dad’s” gift a few days ago and they were excited to give it to him.  Emily worked really hard making up a scavenger hunt so he had to work for his gift this year.  After all the clues were read, he found a pair of new Nike shoes in the trunk of my car.   Special doughnuts for breakfast, his favorite sandwich for lunch and we let him pick where we were going to dinner…Chinese!  YUM!  Before we headed to dinner, we ran over to Costco to buy a new TV.  Our TV broke the other day so it was time.

Believe it or not, there were more things we did…but not important enough to mention! :)   What did you do this weekend?  Were you as busy as we were?

Weekend Wrap Up – A Typical Weekend!

Photobucket
Did you have a great weekend?  I hope so!  I saw the East Coast felt some sunny weather, while Tennessee and Alabama had to deal with LOTS of rain.  (If you live in those states, I hope you and your family were safe from it all.)  We had a rain free weekend, some sun and clouds.  A pretty typical day in the NW.

Friday was my first day all week where I didn’t have to be anywhere.  I took advantage of my morning and enjoyed every minute of it.  The house needed some cleaning.  I had been so busy all week so it had been neglected.  Cleaning and laundry were my focus and I am happy to say, by the end of the weekend 100% of the laundry was washed AND put away!

I enjoyed sleep in days, Saturday and Sunday.  (I am in such a good mood when I get my sleep!)  Scott worked on the shed all weekend and he got a ton done.   The kids must of needed a down day since they spent most of the day just hanging out.  It didn’t help that all their friends were gone for the day.  I think everyone is ready for summer vacation.  (9 more days!)

Scott was back at working on the shed on Sunday.  I helped him get the felt applied before I left for a Family Fun Day at the gym.   The kids brought the neighbor girls with us and they had so much fun doing all the activities.  I did 3-30 minute workouts; Zumba, Body Pump and Turbo Jam.  We were wanting to share the 90 Day Win exercise program I am part of.  There was a Visalus booth too, so I helped run it when I wasn’t exercising.  I am pretty sure I wore out all 4 kids along with myself!  We got home, helped Scott put the window in the shed and then ran for dinner.  (I will admit, I didn’t eat too healthy tonight…just hoping the scale doesn’t reflect it in the morning.)

That was our weekend.  What did you do, anything fun?  This is the last week for the Children’s Miracle Network #Miracle Moms campaign.  If you can donate anything, even $5, you will get me closer to my goal.  Paypal is now accepted which I am so happy about.  Watch for my last post this Wednesday, the 13th.

Have a great week!

I Got A “Dream” Job…Literally!

Every once in awhile something happens in my life that makes me think  “I did make a great impression” even when I didn’t  know I was.  When I became a mom over 11 years ago, I left the work force and was very excited about not working and raising a family.  The month I was laid off from my job (the company closed the small office I was working in), I found out I was pregnant.  For me, it was perfect, I could get everything ready for the baby during those 9 months.  Which is exactly what I did.

Emily arrived in June of 2000 and Brad in January 2003.  Since then I have been a stay at home mom and have loved it.  As I watch them grow and become more independent I started wondering if it was time for me to find a job.  Scott and I talked about it and we were in no rush.  The time frame we were looking at was two years from now, when Brad started middle school.  A phone call last Friday changed our entire plan.

Friday morning, I received a call from a family friend.   Her daughters and Brad are in the same class (her husband is the teacher).  We were busy planning the end of the year events and before hanging up, she said I want to tell you something totally random.

Chris had a dream.  She is a department head at our community college and they were losing their Program Assistant.   The dream was about me accepting this position.  She talked to her husband about it that morning and he encouraged her to call me and tell me about it.

We talked about the job position, hours and wages.  It intrigued me…10-15 hours a week, a very flexible schedule, a decent salary, 10 minutes from my house and it was very similar to the jobs I have held in the past.  She encouraged me to drop off  my resume to her and also asked if I was available to interview on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.

I brought my resume by on Sunday morning (she lives in our neighborhood) and we chatted a little more about the job details.  Today was my interview with the Early Childhood Department heads (there were 4 of them).   When I left, I felt good.  Chris walked me to the door, said I did great and wished she could hire me on the spot.  I knew there were 5 other applicants so I told her…you might find someone better and to keep a clear and open mind.

Right before dinner, the phone rang and it was Chris.  I could hear the excitement in her voice before she even asked me if I wanted the job.  Of course I accepted and am now the new Program Assistant for the Early Childhood Education Department at SPSCC.  I am a little nervous but very excited!!

I will be training with the assistant who is leaving, for the next couple weeks and on the 27th I start my summer vacation!   I will be working a school schedule with summers and holidays off.

A complete DREAM job for me!

Weekend Wrap Up – May 4-6th

Photobucket
Our weekend flew by. I think I am ready for a slow and leisurely one soon.  One more weekend of busyness and then we should be able to have a quieter one.

Scott was off on Friday and I must say he was a trooper.  I am a Tacoma Mall Blogger and had my first assignment, shopping for shoes!!  When I realized Scott would be with me, I decided I needed a plan.  I knew I wanted some sandals and we were on the hunt.  Guess who found the pair I bought?…Scott!  You will have to stop by later this month to find out more about our shopping experience.  Here is a sneak peek.

I am such a tease huh?

Once we made it home from Tacoma (about a half hour away), we went up to the school to see Brad get the Grin Critter award.  It is always nice when Scott is off for these fun days.  We ended our day with a pizza dinner out.

Saturday morning came early again.  We headed back down to Raymond for more pricing of Scott’s grandma’s things.  Next weekend is the garage sale, so our goal was to get everything priced.  We literally got everything done except for under the kitchen sink.   We spent another 6-7 hours just pricing and setting up.   Once we were done we headed back to Scott’s parents for dinner.  Everyone was starving and it was a nice break before heading back home.   Emily camped with her cousin, Auntie and Uncle while Brad came home with us.  The boys found a BB gun at Grandma’s so he spent most of Saturday night shooting at a target.

I was tired Sunday morning but got myself up to work out with my 90 Day Win girls.  We ended up walking 3 miles together.  Afterwards, we walked through the Farmer’s Market for our nutrition class.  The rest of our day consisted of doing home chores…along with some relaxing.   Scott found these cute washboards at his grandparents so we added them to our laundry room…I love them and how they compliment my other decorations!

A busy week ahead of us with appointments, dinners out, workouts, our 14th wedding anniversary, garage sale etc…I am looking forward to a LOT of relaxing on Mother’s Day! :)

How was your weekend??

Weekend Wrap Up – In Pictures

Photobucket
I finally was able to get my pictures to download from last weekend so today’s Weekend Wrap Up is a recap of the last two weeks in pictures!

Easter Egg Hunt

The kids both spent some of their money on gifts for Scott and I. Emily bought me this plaque to remind me of my sweet Symonne who went to kitty heaven a few month ago. That’s my sweet girl. Brad found out a few weeks ago about my favorite candy, Buttered Popcorn Jelly Belly’s. He brought me a package home from Ocean Shores which had 20 left in the package! He decided that he is now a fan of them too!

I spent the day on Saturday with some good friends I use to work with.  We get together when we can and it had been a while.  While I was gone the boys disassembled the rest of the playhouse.  Our back yard just got bigger!  We also sold our car this weekend so we are on the hunt for a new car.  We haven’t found it yet…although we are close.  See that cute little heart up there?  Scott made jello tonight and added a heart just for me.  How romantic!  I loved it!

How was your weekend?  I hope you had a great one!  I am participating in a big giveaway coming up this week.  Be sure to stop by if you are in the need of a Canon Camera!!

Weekend Wrap Up – Spring Break Wrap Up

Photobucket
It’s Monday?  I have to admit I am dreading the morning routine today!  Kids have been gone most of the week and are very tired.  I am going to need to be creative to pull them out of bed.  (Wish me luck!)

Last Sunday we dropped the kids off at Nana and Papa’s.  They were on their way to Ocean Shores for the week, excited to spend some time a the beach and swimming in the pool.   While Scott and I were excited to get a little break ourselves.

We didn’t do anything super exciting…got a few things done around here, had a couple dinners out and just enjoyed the “quietness.”  Scott had to go to work Thursday and Friday so I spent one day shopping and a day doing some computer work.

Friday night Emily called us to say Brad was bored (homesick) and wanted to come home.   Saturday morning we met Papa half way and picked up Brad.  Emily wanted to stay one more day with her cousin…so they stayed at Nana’s for one more day.  Brad was happy to see us and told us all about the winnings at the arcade, skateboarding and the condo.  Scott and Brad spent part of the day tearing apart the playhouse.

Brad’s buddy was home from his trip to California so they were in heaven to shoot some baskets and just being boys.  Scott and I had planned on dinner out so we took Brad out with us.  I think he enjoys “mom and dad” time without his sister!

While the boys were playing I was busy making food for Easter dinner.  I baked and decorated sugar cookies.   Put together some delicious baked beans (I will share this recipe soon) and popped some confetti popcorn (I will share this recipe too).

Sunday the Easter Bunny made a quiet appearance and left two baskets full of goodies.   (I can’t believe I didn’t take any pictures.)  We drove down to my in-laws and celebrated with the family.   It was great seeing Emily…we had missed her.   Lot of yummy food to be eaten.  I took pictures of the kids doing their egg hunt but my pictures are not downloading.

I hope everyone had a festive Easter!  I have a GREAT giveaway coming up this week!  You won’t want to miss it!  Have a great Monday.

(I will download pictures soon!)

Weekend Wrap Up – The Beginning of Spring Break

Photobucket
We are on Spring Break!  The kids woke up excited on Friday, knowing it was their last early get up for the next 9 days!  (Me too…there was a spring in my step that morning!)

Friday started out with an early morning run to the bus stop and no, this was not a planned run.  We have been experiencing a very wet March.  I knew Emily had a treasure hunt/birthday party to attend that afternoon and I realized she walked out without her coat.  Out I went, in my slippers and pajamas, to the bus stop.  As soon as I got back into the house I received a text saying “Thanks mom, luv you!”  (So sweet!)

I spent most of my day cleaning house.  Scott was having poker here that night and the house had been calling my name for a good cleaning.  I FINALLY listened! :)   Once Brad and Scott were home, we ran out for a quick dinner.   Brad hung out with the guys while I read a book and waited to go and pick Emily up from her party.

Our niece came to stay with us on Saturday morning.  The girls had been wanting to see The Hunger Games and I really wanted to see it too so we spent the afternoon in the theater.   None of us were disappointed either…great movie!  We brought home pizzas and enjoyed a quiet night at home.  (If you can consider giggling kids quiet.)

We drove down to Scott’s parents on Sunday and dropped all the kids off with Nana and Papa.  They were taking them to Ocean Shores until Friday.  Scott and I are home alone for a week, actually he has to work on Thursday and Friday so we have a few days to get things done around here.   Tonight we went out to dinner and are enjoying a quiet night.

With it being Spring Break, I will be offline a bit more this week.  I do have some great giveaways coming up this week so be sure to stop by and check them out…I have one scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday!

Have a great week!

Weekend Wrap Up – Girl Time

Photobucket
Happy Monday!

This past week I came down with a terrible cold which was not a fun way to start my weekend.   This cold was one of the worst I have ever had.  The headache pain behind my eyes was horrible, along with my head feeling like a bowling ball.   I was pretty miserable and just wanted a little rest.  So what did I do to get that?   I agreed to not one sleepover, but two!   Emily and Brad had both of their best friends sleep over.   I know I am crazy but the kids entertain themselves really well at this age and it worked (I got to go to bed early that night)!  We did go for pizza before everyone showed up at our house.

Saturday Emily and I were heading to my sisters house in Sammamish.  I felt a little groggy getting up but decided to head up to her house anyway.  We had been trying to get up to her house for a few weeks and knew this was our only chance for several more weeks.  We had manicures, pedicure and did lots of shopping.  The boys stayed home hanging out, catching frogs, playing basketball and went to see The Lorax (which they both enjoyed).

Emily and I headed back home Sunday after a light lunch at Starbucks. (YUM!)  Once we were back, we caught up with  the boys and heard about their weekend.    The kids were outside with friends shortly after we drove in the driveway…they don’t waste any time with their friends.

I am still suffering from my cold but it seems to be getting a little better.  I worked out with it all last week and will probably try to do the same this week.  I was not as strict with my food this weekend as I should have been.  Hoping it won’t haunt me on Wednesday at weigh in!

I hope you have a great week!  I have some great giveaways coming up this week so be sure to stop by everyday!

Weekend Wrap Up – March Madness

Photobucket
No, I am not a huge fan of March Madness but Scott is!  I did fill out a bracket just to see how far I could get, did you?   Our March Madness has actually been our Northwest weather.  Absolutely crazy.  We saw snow, heavy rains, wind and sun…all within a 4-day span.

Friday was a needed day of rest.  It had been one busy week, busier than normal.   I decided to take a relaxing approach to my day.  Once everyone was home, we went out to dinner and we were all here!  No GNO, no parties and no sleepovers.   Brad’s school hosted a Pizza and Bingo night.   Our friends invited us to go and since we had never been, we decided to try it out.  We left Scott at home and the kids and I went and had a great time.  Brad went to bed in tears, we figured it was just our busy week and he was exhausted.  In fact, his problem was he had not made a leprechaun trap.  Scott decided to help him construct a quick one before he headed back to bed.  (No captures to report.)

Hoping to catch a leprechaun!

Emily all decorated for St. Patrick's Day

Leprechauns left these cool glasses for Brad

It was a sleep-in Saturday (the best kind).   We didn’t really have anything going on this weekend so we got a few more things done around here.  Scott mowed the lawn (first of the season) and washed my filthy car.  I decided to tackle another closet upstairs.  It always looks worse before it gets better.  See the big mess I made?  The closet looks great now!

My big mess!

I received an invitation to go on a walk/run with my 90 Day Win girls Sunday morning.  You know how I love my sleep-in mornings, so it was hard to give it up but I did.  We ended up doing interval training for 1.7 miles and walked the remainder of the 4.2 miles we did.   It was a great workout and I am feeling it tonight.   I kicked my feet up today and fell asleep on the couch while Scott and Brad started taking apart the playhouse we have.  Scott and I went on a 25 minute walk after dinner so I should get extra credit for all the exercise accomplished today.

It is conference week at the grade school so Brad will be home early every day this week.  His conference is on Wednesday so will venture to the school that afternoon.  I will continue my evening workouts along with a HOA meeting at our house later in the week.  Emily and I are looking forward to heading to my sisters next weekend.

Happy Monday everyone!
