Our Weekend In Pictures!

weekend pics

We had a busy weekend!  Emily and I ran in a 2 mile Family Fun run while Scott and Brad were playing soccer.  Sunday we headed up to Tacoma to catch a Tacoma Rainier’s Game.  Lot of sun, family time and fun!  Couldn’t of asked for a better weekend!

Happy Monday!

It’s Been Quite The Week!

Ever have one of those weeks where not everything goes as planned?  I definitely had one of those last week.  Monday morning Brad woke up with a 101 degree fever.   He stayed home from school, while I stayed home from work.   (It has not been our year with sick kids!)

sick boy

I was able to make it to work on Tuesday since his fever was gone.  Wednesday morning we heard that Scott’s grandma has passed away the night before.  Heartbreaking news for our family, as she was an extremely special to all of us.  I had so much respect for Nan and loved her dearly!

We spent Wednesday evening down at my in-laws, checking in with them and going over everything that would be happening in the next few days.

Thursday, Brad woke up again with another fever!  I couldn’t believe it.  Scott and I played work tag so I could go in an get things wrapped up before spring break at the college.  Along with Thursday, Brad ended up staying home on Friday too.   He had this horrible cough that is just now beginning to sound better.

The only good part of the week was spending some girl time with Emily on Friday.   After dinner, we went and got our nails done and found Emily a cute little dress to wear on Monday.

Brad had a soccer game on Saturday which he played in for a bit.  If I had my way, he wouldn’t of played at all since he really should have been resting!   (Hmmmm…and Dad is the assistant coach too- he knows better!) :)

Once we got home from the game, it seemed we all hit the wall with exhaustion.  Naps were taken along with a lot of resting.  Scott began the symptoms Brad is just getting over.  UGH!  Luckily we had nothing to do on Sunday, so we continued with more R & R.  I can’t remember that last time I took a nap two days in a row!  I am hoping everyone wakes up healthy in the morning.

Today we will be saying our goodbyes to our Nan and Nanny.   She is going to be greatly missed!

We will miss you Nan!

Weekend Wrap Up Is Going To Take A Bit Of A Break

With the holidays upon us, I have decided to take a break with the Weekend Wrap Up.   Blog events and time sensitive posts are needing to be my priority right now.   This is great news for you because it means I have some awesome giveaways and information coming your way!

I will be back after the first of the year with your regular Weekend Wrap Up!

Happy Holidays!

Weekend Wrap Up – Thanksgiving And A Birthday

Welcome back!  I feel like it’s been awhile since I have been here since I took a little online break.  When the holidays arrive, I feel like I need some time to play and enjoy family, and not be on the computer.  Tonight, I am trying to do a little Cyber Monday shopping but the site I am on is jammed…it is taking forever!!

Thursday was a great day with family as my parents and sister came to enjoy with us.  There was a lot of food, laughs and football.  Everyone headed home fairly early (6′ish) since they had a full day of Christmas tree hunting ahead with my sister.   Every year my parents head up to Sammamish to help Michelle get her tree.  We kicked our feet up and had a nice relaxing evening…tummies being very full.

Emily and I decided to go Black Friday shopping.  She has never been and really wanted to go.  We headed up to Tacoma Mall to check out all the deals.  Let’s just say, there were a lot!  We spent most of the day shopping on a very rainy and blustery day.  They boys stayed home (they hate shopping) watched football and played the XBOX!

We decided to pull out our entertainment center on Saturday.  It was too large for our living room.  We have had it on Craigslist for a couple months with no luck.  We called Habitat for Humanity and they had too many on their floor so called Goodwill and they don’t pick up.  I wanted it out of the house since we have been talking about it so out it went to the 3rd car garage.  We figured it would sell at some point.  It sure makes our room look bigger.  The kids made a birthday cake (for Scott) while I found homes for all the items stored in the entertainment center (what a chore).

Scott’s birthday was Sunday so the kids and I decided to surprise him with getting up at a decent time and taking him out for birthday breakfast.  While we were leaving the restaurant, his phone rang and we had someone coming for the Entertainment Center.  How about that??  It was empty, out in the garage and just waiting for a new home!  Yay!  …and we made some money from it!

The day started out cold and foggy but turned into a sunny day.  We had thought about going out for awhile but the kids really wanted to stay home.  We did a few things around here and then went out for an early dinner.  We enjoyed the cake the kids had made too…it was tasty!  I boxed up the Thanksgiving decorations but didn’t want to take away from Scott’s birthday by starting in on the Christmas decorations.  We can do that later this week or next weekend.

Tomorrow starts another week.  We are now counting down until Christmas break.  Three weeks and 2 days and I will have the same break as the kids.  Love working at the college and being able to have the same time off as the kids.  Woohoo!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  I have some fun giveaways coming up this week so be sure to stop by.  Have a great Monday!

Weekend Wrap Up – A Weekend Without Pictures?

Yikes!  I didn’t document our weekend with ANY pictures!  How sad is that?  It was a pretty uneventful weekend so maybe that’s why.

I worked on Friday since I had Monday off for the Veteran’s Day holiday.   Emily came home shortly after I did and she wasn’t feeling very well.  She crashed on the couch while the rest of our Friday went by.  It was kind of nice staying home on a dark, rainy Friday night.

Cleaning was the first thing on my agenda for Saturday.  We are hosting Thanksgiving and with working all week, I needed to get a jump start.  As of right now the house is nice and clean…I know I will need to clean a bit more on Wednesday afternoon.  I can be a little OCD when it come to a clean house.  I finished the house cleaning about an hour before our annual Home Owner’s Association meeting, also here.  Somehow I ended up coming away being the president.

I ran out later than night and did a big grocery shop for Thanksgiving.  Trying to beat the rush of all the last minute shoppers.  Hopefully I have everything and won’t have to go back in the next few days.

Sunday, Scott and Brad headed down to his parents for his grandmother’s birthday celebration.  We decided to keep Emily home since she has a cold and we didn’t want to expose Nan to her bug.  While they were gone we ran an errand and came back home.  Relaxing was on my list to do, so scrolling through Facebook and Instagram became my past time.  I should have picked up my Kindle and read but that would have probably put me to sleep.

The life we lead…ha! ha!  Exciting stuff!  I hope you have a great week!  Be sure to check out my blog later today when I will be putting up a $300 Visa Giftcard Giveaway!  You won’t want to miss this one!

Have a great week!

Weekend Wrap Up – Our Weekend Is Not Over Yet!

I usually wait until after a long weekend to write up my WWU, but decided to do it tonight.  You could say, I am trying to stay caught up.   This time of year is always busy with the holidays and blogging tends to get crazy busy!

Looking back at Friday, it was a great day!   The sun was shining and I had a fun afternoon planned with Emily.  The middle school had early release so it was just her and I until Brad got home.  We had been talking about getting a manicure for awhile and I thought this would be our perfect opportunity.  Lunch and a manicure with your daughter…doesn’t get much better than that.  Everyone was having a hard time figuring out “where” to go to dinner.  We settled on IHOP for breakfast for dinner.   A stop at Goodwill ended the night.  We haven’t been very successful there in the last month or two.  I think we are getting due for a great haul from there soon.

Saturday was a cold but gorgeous day.  I got the house cleaned on the inside, while Scott mowed and took care of all the falling leaves outside.  Once I accomplished my chores, I was ready for a nap.   Naps are a luxury for me…I wish I could take more of them but always feel guilty.  I did take one, I NEEDED one!  Emily spent the night across the street at her best friends while Brad had his BF from next door come over for pizza and a little XBOX.

It was a pretty wet, blustery Sunday.   Scott and I ran a few errands while the kids hung out with friends.  We came home and had a pretty laid back afternoon.  I love those!  Enjoyed a Starbucks and picked up the Sunday newspaper while we were out.  I love reading the Sunday paper and checking out all the ads.  Great way for me to unwind.  The kids made dinner for us…you will have to check the blog later today, when I put up the recipe they created along with a fun giveaway.

Not much on the agenda for tomorrow.  I need to finish up the laundry and maybe run an errand or two.  We all are excited to be home an extra day.  How about you…what do you have planned for today?

Have a great week!

Weekend Wrap Up – A Very Rainy Weekend

Happy Monday everyone!  We have had such a rainy weekend here which makes me think of all my friends and readers who are on the East Coast.  Please stay safe and know many prayers are coming your way.

I enjoyed coffee with friends on Friday morning.   What a great way to start my weekend.   I was back home as the kids were just getting home.  They ended up inviting their best friends over to spend the afternoon together.  Emily’s youth group had a party planned for Friday evening so we just ran and got takeout so she could get ready for her Halloween party.  I grabbed a blanket and my Kindle and enjoyed a laid back evening.

We woke up to a rainy, wet Saturday.  Unfortunately, we didn’t get a break for Brad’s last football game.  They played in the rain and got soaked.  The upside to the game is they ended their season with a win.  All four of us came home and changed into warm, dry clothes.  Then we decided to venture out one more time to get our pumpkins.  Our weekends have been so full, we haven’t had a chance to go get ours.  We finally found pumpkins at Safeway…again, it was down-pouring so we got wet and cold all over again.

Pumpkins were carved after a pizza dinner.  The kids are getting so good at doing their own.  Emily carved a cat, Brad’s was a cartoon character (not quite sure who), Scott’s made a scary pumpkin and I carved Hello Kitty.  They turned out great!

Sunday, was another lazy day.  I am beginning to see a trend here, are you?  Once we all got going, it was a clean house, laundry and yard work kind of day.  Everything outside has been put away and the inside got a good cleaning.   We had a bit of a break in the weather this afternoon so the kids hung out with friends until the rain came back.

This week we are back on our schedule minus football practice.   I will be beginning another 90 day win exercise program so instead of Scott and Brad gone in the evenings, it will be me.    Still working at getting those last 10 pounds off.  The holidays are always tough so this will be good for  me, getting into the gym and working out.

I hope you all have a great week.  I will be sharing a fun and easy pumpkin craft which is perfect for Fall…it will even add to your Thanksgiving decor!

Weekend Wrap Up – Fitting It All In

As I think back on our weekend, I am feeling exhausted.  No wonder I am so tired tonight!

The kids were home from school on Friday.   All three of us slept in and had a relaxing morning.  Neither had picked out their Halloween costumes so we went on the hunt for the perfect costumes.  After three stores and back to one of the first stores we stopped at, we found them!  Brad is wearing a red morph suit with clown hair and a tie while Emily is going to be the Mad Hater.  (Pictures to be up after Halloween.)   Dinner and Goodwill wrapped up our perfect Friday.

It was pouring down rain on Saturday when we woke up.   We were hoping it would be short lived since Brad had a football game at 11:30.  Lucky for us, it was blue sky and clouds for the game…everyone one was happy about this!  Once we made it back home, the kids and I changed into Halloween costumes and headed to a friends house for a Halloween party.  They have a large, unfinished apartment above their garage and they turned it into a fun afternoon with food and games.  The rest of the evening was spent curled up on the couch, reading and watching some TV.

Scott and I both had a few things we needed to get done on Sunday.  Those home chores that always need to be done.  Every Fall, Scott makes a traditional Croatian dish called Njoki (No-key)…very much like the Italian Gnocchi.  He made enough for 3 freezer meals along with our meal tonight.   It was so good.

I did my two week meal plan and then went shopping to get all the ingredients.   Emily and I also went and watched her best friend perform in her cheer competition.   They did great and came in third place.   The rest of the day was filled with all the “stuff” that needs to be done on a Sunday.

The kids have half days this week for conferences, so I am only working two days with shorter hours.  It is also the last week of football.  Hoping this slows our schedule a bit, although I am starting a new 90 day exercise program so I will be out a couple nights a week working out.  It is always something around here!

Enjoy your week.  Several more giveaways going live this week so be sure to stop by!

Weekend Wrap Up – A Rough Start Saturday

I hope everyone had a great weekend.   The rain has finally made it back to the NW after 81 days of no precipitation.  It always feels good the first few days but then it doesn’t go away until May.  It was perfect for our weekend…home cooked meals in the crockpot, naps, football, baking and just plain relaxing!

Friday was the first day off I had where I didn’t need to be anywhere.  Going to bed Thursday night was like “Ahhh!”   Brad had been gone on a 3 day field trip with his class, which made Friday morning go quick.  I crawled up on the couch in my jammies and watched morning TV because I could!  The rest of the day was spent pretty much the same way.  We went to pick up Brad at 5 p.m. and then headed out to dinner to find out all about his trip.  He had so much fun…they went to Astoria and learned all about Lewis and Clark.

We were all exhausted Saturday morning when we had to get up for Brad’s football game.  Everyone got up on the wrong side of the bed.   We had a frustrated parent, a parent in tears, a son in tears and a daughter who just kind of took it all in, in her own drowsy state.  Making it onto the football field was the biggest challenge that morning and it did happen.

I have been running on empty since the middle of September and this was the first day I had to take a relaxing nap.  It was heavenly!  Kids and Scott watched college football and just relaxed.

Sunday has been much of the same.  Emily is taking home ec and is wanting to cook so she made some yummy chocolate and butterscotch cookies!   Chicken tortilla soup in the crock pot…can’t wait for dinner and dessert.

Did you have a great Fall weekend?  I saw lots of pumpkin patch pictures.  I hope our weather holds up at some point so we can go and get our pumpkins.  Happy Monday to everyone!

Weekend Wrap Up – It Finally Looks Like Fall!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  The NW has seen the most beautiful weather for the last 2 months.  This weekend was no exception.  I don’t know about you but my mood is so much better when the sun is out.

Friday was my day off and I spent it with a doctor’s check up.  I am finding I need to fit in all my appointments on those days off.   Scott and I met for lunch after my appointment since I was close to his office.  I ran errands afterwards and made it home about an hour before the kids got home.

Emily and I went out for a girls night with some friends of ours.   We are all going to the Justin Bieber concert on Tuesday, so the girls made fun t-shirts to wear.  There was dinner, shopping and crafting!  The boys went out to dinner and then they went shopping at the sports store.

Brad had football on Saturday afternoon.  Love being in my “Cougar Mom” hoodie and my sunglasses, watching him play.  He made an awesome tackle this week which was the cause of a fumble.  Scott took some great photo’s and he caught the tackle in action!  While we were at the game, Emily went to a wedding reception with her grandparents, cousin, aunt and uncle.

I was so excited to sleep in on Sunday.  It was much needed.  Scott had to work an event for his job so the kids and I washed my car, decorated the house for Halloween, laundry, all while I was creating a few new recipes to share with you later this week.   Everything turned out yummy…which was a good thing.  (I am not that great when it comes to experimenting or trying out new recipes.)  After dinner I was beat but made another 4 mini loaves of zucchini bread.

We are in store for another busy week ahead of us with work, mom’s night out, Justin Bieber concert, overnight field trip for Brad, an evening work event and a hair appointment.  I am pretty sure I am missing something!

Enjoy your week!  Be sure to check back for some great recipes this week, along with some great giveaways!
